Kaly is a student at the University of Oklahoma majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in Film & Media Studies and General Business.

She is a member of the Asian American Student Association and is a recent, as of fall 2023, addition to the organization's magazine committee as a writer and copy editor. She is also a member of the Vietnamese Student Association.

​

Kaly currently works as a director, producer, and reporter for OU Nightly, the university's live student-run, award-winning news broadcast. She previously served as a associate producer, technical director, A1 (audio engineer), camera operator, floor director, and live shot photographer and coordinator.

 

She also serves as the video editor for OU Daily, the university's independent student print and online news organization. She previously held the positions of assistant video editor, junior news reporter, and news intern. As assistant video editor, she hosted "OU in 60," a short-form news segment produced by OU Daily.

Over the summer of 2023, Kaly interned with Bally Sports Southwest in Irving, TX, where she honed her production skills, specifically technical directing. She also studied abroad in Great Britain and toured various media companies, including the BBC and CNN London, and got to talk with leadership about working in the journalism industry internationally.

In her free time, Kaly enjoys talking with her friends, playing video games, and watching YouTube and television.

​

After graduation, she hopes to continue either producing or directing for broadcast news.
